ACL Bavaria Open 2025 – Cornhole between castle walls and European top players
This past weekend, the ACL Bavaria Open (Tier 3) took place in the charming border town of Burghausen , Germany. Right on the Austrian border – and in perhaps the most breathtaking location we’ve ever played Cornhole.
🏰 Cornhole under medieval walls
On Friday evening we kicked off the tournament in a place that is unparalleled: the courtyard of the longest castle in the world , the imposing Burg zu Burghausen . Under the golden evening light and between centuries-old walls, the bags flew through the air. Even the mayor was tempted to throw a ball — a special moment that perfectly summed up the unique atmosphere of this evening.
💪 Exciting battle on Saturday
Although the weather forced us to move the Singles and Doubles events indoors on Saturday, the energy remained high. More than 100 players from almost all European countries competed for the title, and it produced fireworks.
The apotheosis? A thrilling final in the Singles tournament between Wicked Wood captain EJ Vondran and the strong German Rene Schindler . In what was perhaps the most beautiful match of the season so far , EJ came out on top and was crowned champion. Pure class!
🔥 Compliments to the Firesliders
The local club Firesliders deserves a deep bow for the organization. Everything went smoothly, the atmosphere was relaxed and fanatic at the same time, and the hospitality was to die for.
📅 On to 2026?
The ACL Bavaria Open in Burghausen was not just a tournament — it was an experience. A combination of sports, culture, history and international friendship. We definitely hope to return to this magical place next year for a new edition.
See you soon, Burghausen! 🇩🇪🎯
